In many corporate situations hierarchy is paramount.  <\/span>Some might say it\u2019s needed for order and structure.  <\/span>The folks at \u201csome\u201d usually don\u2019t mention fear and greed.  <\/span>Often hierarchy creates a cast system.  <\/span>You know the type; \u201cI am the smartest guy or gal in the room because my title begins with \u201cSenior\u2026.\u201d  <\/span>Those of you with no title know this is a bunch of malarkey!  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve held a few senior level positions in my time, and growth has always been important.  <\/span>Part of growing up is learning that leadership is about responsibility, and not privilege.  <\/span>You may meet some senior leaders that would agree with my statement.  <\/span>However, don\u2019t you wonder why their actions speak to something else?  <\/span>For now, we\u2019ll leave it to the psychologists to figure out why this behavior persists.  <\/span>This is a big problem in Corporate America.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following is a list of questions I\u2019ve used to evaluate leaders\u2026it will help you evaluate those who want to influence you:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

1.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>What are their unique passions?<\/p>\n

2.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Can they cast vision around those passions?<\/p>\n

3.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Do they have a growth plan?<\/p>\n

4.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>How much time do they dedicate to reflective\/thinking time?<\/p>\n

5.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Do they have a mentor\/advisor?<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

There may be more questions you could ask, but this list will reveal a lot about the leader\u2019s core.  <\/span>You\u2019ll want to know this before you entrust your working life to them.  <\/span>Don\u2019t fall into the trap of motivation by fear and greed.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
