Here\u2019s a test, how much time do you spend thinking about yourself?  <\/span>Most of us would say a lot.  <\/span>We\u2019re human\u2026right?  <\/span>Now\u2019s the time to be super human.  <\/span>Move your thoughts to leadership\u2026specifically servant leadership.  <\/span>I\u2019ve found that the more you think about others, the better life gets.  <\/span>Leaders that serve themselves are not living.  <\/span>The people you lead are the ones that will define the success.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve met too many leaders that find the mirror to be their best friend.  <\/span>A close associate once told me that most corporate leaders are narcissists.  <\/span>I agree with him on that.  <\/span>There\u2019s an epidemic of self-absorbed leaders.  <\/span>They use their career (and other people) to further their agenda.  <\/span>Have you ever noticed that you can\u2019t have a real conversation with these folks?  <\/span>Yes, a REAL conversation where we might talk about things we would rather forget.  <\/span>You can\u2019t communicate when everything is about \u201cpositioning.\u201d  <\/span>When will they realize that careers are to be led, and not managed?  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Look at the following tips:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

1.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Start taking more risk (thought-through), and yes you might get in trouble.  <\/span>Ask an elderly person if they wish they had taken more risk, I bet they\u2019ll say yes.  <\/span>Don\u2019t wait until you\u2019re in the ninth inning. <\/p>\n

2.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Discover your passions\u2026you\u2019ll find it liberating.<\/p>\n

3.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Get a mentor.<\/p>\n

4.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Serve people.<\/p>\n

5.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Make sure you have a growth plan, and make sure it\u2019s a plan for growth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
