I did a workshop last week on risk.  <\/span>Risk and personal growth was the actual focus of the engagement.  <\/span>As always, I made some of the participants uncomfortable.  <\/span>Uncomfortable is a good thing.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

We focused primarily on leadership in the workplace.  <\/span>Interestingly, the conversation around risk is usually confined to the P & L or some other business metric.  <\/span>We, however, were focusing on decision making and how risk affects our growth.  <\/span>What the participants discovered was the truth of how risk and growth are partners.  <\/span>In other words, if you want to grow, then you must be willing to risk.  <\/span>As you seek more growth, more risk will be your travel companion.  <\/span>These realities made me realize why so many people don\u2019t grow, and why they think it\u2019s smart to play it safe.  <\/span>Which is really the most dangerous decision you could make.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let me give you a few insights from the workshop:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

1.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Risk is not designed to destroy you\u2026stupidity is.<\/p>\n

2.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Those that have mentors are better able to manage risk.<\/p>\n

3.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>See risk as it really is (like Neo and the bullets).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
