I spent a good portion of this weekend coordinating a \u201cministry fair\u201d at my place of worship.  <\/span>I discovered what it feels like to work with people who know the art of encouragement.  <\/span>I wasn\u2019t the best person to lead this event, but I was \u201cguy\u201d anyway.  <\/span>Quite frankly, details suck the life out of me.  <\/span>I tend to be vision oriented\u2026it\u2019s the rhythm I dance to.  <\/span>That said, the event went well.  <\/span>Interestingly, one of my mentors (who happens to lead this group of people) seemed concerned about the amount of margin in the people.  <\/span>He was speaking a common problem in our culture; over commitment.  <\/span>We can all relate to that.  <\/span>I believe that it was Peter Drucker who said we need to focus on a few things and stop doing the rest.  <\/span>Here\u2019s a list to give you a hand in creating more \u201cmargin:\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

1.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>If the event\/task is not in your \u201cstrength zone,\u201d then say no.<\/p>\n

2.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Set aside time each week to reflect.  <\/span>This should give you time to slow down and listen.<\/p>\n

3.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>There are only about five things that really matter in life.<\/p>\n

4.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Learn the art of saying \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n

5.      <\/span><\/span><\/span>Give, (time, money, encouragement, love, hope and anything else that will help others) this will give vast amounts of energy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
