I recall that year as being a tough one. As of late, I&#8217;ve been recalling the words from 2009. Some of the areas from that time have resolved and some are ongoing. I know the importance of my preparation and response. Both of those are key when faced with the good and bad of life.<\/p>\n<p>In my current frame, I am faced with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complications from having diabetes (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/diabetic-retinopathy\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20371611\">Diabetic Retinopathy)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Start of my 3rd book manuscript<\/li>\n<li>Addiction issues with a sibling<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alz.org\/alzheimers_disease_what_is_alzheimers.asp\">Extended family member&#8217;s struggle with Alzheimer&#8217;s Disease<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Children moving into adulthood<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My alignment with God&#8217;s call and my growth in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiritofeq.com\">EQ<\/a> have added to my sustainment and happiness. Again, this is about preparation and responding as life delivers what it delivers.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;There are more things in heaven and earth, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Horatio (character)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Horatio_%28character%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Horatio<\/a>, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8211; Shakespeare<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As I wrote some time ago, I have been doing more thinking than writing lately.\u00a0 One of the things I&#8217;ve been pondering is the idea of what one wants from life-specifically what I&#8217;ve wanted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I&#8217;ve also been thinking about what I&#8217;ve gotten, and what I did in response to the result.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The following are some specifics:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>I wanted my dad to be around longer for me to fully appreciate our relationship.\u00a0 Regardless, he passed on unexpectedly and a large comma was placed in my life.\u00a0 I am relying on the vision God gave me to work through this time.\u00a0 A type of vision that says: &#8220;I don&#8217;t know how this all will work out, but I trust, even in my deepest blues, that it will.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>I wanted a linear path in my entrepreneur pursuits.\u00a0 It has been anything but linear.\u00a0 I have rolled with it and learned to embrace my disappointments as I do my successes.\u00a0 Most importantly, things don&#8217;t need to look like I thought they would in order to be the &#8220;right thing.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>I wanted certain people to stick with me.\u00a0 Those that took off were only with me for the ride.\u00a0 As a result, I redefined what friendship really means.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>I wanted a great career.\u00a0 I lost my career and <strong>found my life<\/strong>.\u00a0 I am most grateful for this&#8230;I can breathe.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>I wanted to get everything right with my family.\u00a0 In the last three years, I&#8217;ve gotten much wrong. I learned\u00a0 that needing forgiveness creates the art of forgiving.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The post in italics below was originally written in 2009.
